Robert J Daniels, 97, of Park Ridge (formerly from Chicago) passed away on October 27, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Rita; devoted father of the late Robert (Dawn), Marianne (Mark) and Damian (Chelby); cherished grandfather of Suzanne, Douglas, and Connor; dear brother of the late Edward (Kay) and the late John (Kathy); fond uncle to nieces and nephews.
Robert was proud to be the first 4-year Graduating Class of 1938 of Lane Tech High School, graduating in the upper 10% of his class.
Robert was a veteran of WWII, serving the US Air Corp/Army/Signal Corp in Britain, France, and Germany, as a T3 Wire Chief. He landed on Utah Beach 3 days after D-day.
Following his military service, he worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co for 30+ years, retiring in his mid 60’s. Before and after retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Rita, to whom he was married for nearly 55 years, until her death in 2004.
He kept himself busy repairing all kinds of appliances, & especially enjoyed working on cars. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
Robert enjoyed being with people and especially his family. He had a witty sense of humor.
