Robert was proud to be the first 4-year Graduating Class of 1938 of Lane Tech High School, graduating in the upper 10% of his class.
Robert was a veteran of WWII, serving the US Air Corp/Army/Signal Corp in Britain, France, and Germany, as a T3 Wire Chief. He landed on Utah Beach 3 days after D-day.
Following his military service, he worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co for 30+ years, retiring in his mid 60’s. Before and after retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Rita, to whom he was married for nearly 55 years, until her death in 2004.
He kept himself busy repairing all kinds of appliances, & especially enjoyed working on cars. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
Robert enjoyed being with people and especially his family. He had a witty sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Ransom Church in Niles, IL, on Friday, November 3, 2017, starting with visitation at 9am, and Mass at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
